COVID-19 and ESOT Congress 2021

ESOT Congress 2021 was one of the first congresses with a face-to-face presence and which accompanied a great degree of enthusiasm from the transplant community who had been waiting for the opportunity to reconvene.

To ensure the safety of all those who attended, ESOT took strict safety measures which aligned with Italy’s latest COVID-19 regulations, to ensure you got the most out of your Congress experience.

It is important to state that anyone who attended the congress in Milan should have revisited all government/ institutional sites (origin country as well as Italy) to be updated on the most recent measures in place to travel. ESOT posted the latest updates available, however it was your individual responsibility to remain updated on the necessary measures to adopt to travel safely according to regulations.

 Latest updates

To pre for ESOT 2021, ESOT developed the following documentation outlining the latest COVID-19 updates and regulations. We strongly advised all attendees to read this document before you travelled to Milan.

Venue

The ESOT Congress Management Team, together with our agency – AIM Group International – and our Congress Venue – MiCo Milano, prepared a safety and security plan to respect the main criteria for in-person events in the new Covid 19 era.

Some of the measures that we put in place include; separated entry and exit flows, body temperature measurement at entrances, hand sanitising stations throughout the venue, floor signage to encourage 1m social distancing, automated IT procedures for registration, advanced medical support in case of need and all rooms will be set up to meet social distancing requirements.

Additionally, the cleaning service of all congress centre areas were upgraded, internal air recirculation will be eliminated, and all catering services were redesigned in compliance with the hygiene and health safety measures necessary to avoid risks of biological contamination. We also evaluated the possibility of working with local health organisations to provide COVID tests for those returning to their home country after attending the ESOT Congress 2021.
