Annick Massart, MD, graduated in Medicine, Internal Medicine and Nephrology at Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. Before her engagement as senior staff member in the Nephrology Dept of Antwerp University Hospital, she worked as a fellow in the renal transplantation clinic of University Hospital Erasme for about 4 years that were interrupted by a short personal appointment as a speciality registrar at the Renal Unit of the Royal Free Hospital in London (UCL). She has a proven track record in designing and/or implementing clinical trials (RCTs, phase 2 studies, coordination of several Belgian and European trials) in dialysis, transplantation and atypical HUS. She obtained a Higher Education degree in Human Genetics from the Belgian Society of Human Genetics. She currently performs research over the mechanisms of transplantation tolerance.
