Christina L. Kaufman PhD. has a background in transplantation immunology and clinical research and is the Executive Director of the Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery. She holds a faculty position as Associate Professor in the Division of Hand Surgery at the University of Louisville School of Medicine.  Dr. Kaufman is responsible for the day to day operations of the Institute and also serves as the Asst. Program Director of the ACGME accredited CMKI/Uof L Hand Surgery Fellowship. She is also responsible for the day to day management of the Louisville VCA Program, including oversight of research projects focused on immunomodulation of acute and chronic rejection, diagnosis and monitoring of graft vasculopathy, lymphedema and novel therapies to improve function following nerve repair in hand surgery and transplant recipients.
