Henning Søndergaard is a psychologist with a Master’s Degree from the University of Copenhagen, specializing in health psychology. He is currently working as a counsellor and teacher for the Danish Kidney Association where he counsels, teaches and does research with and for kidney patients, their relatives, and healthcare professionals. He has a particular interest in the quality of life issues, shared decision making, patient-centered care, and relations between patients and professionals. Dr Søndergaard has had kidney issues his whole life related to being born with spinal bifida, which also has made him a lifelong wheelchair user. He has travelled internationally since he was very young, having split half his adult years between Europe and the United States.
