Become a ‘LonDonor’

Raj Thuraisingham, Consultant Nephrologist at Royal London Hospital

Despite a national opt-out system for organ donation, thousands across the UK are still waiting for life-saving transplants – and East London is among the hardest-hit areas.

In boroughs like Tower Hamlets and Newham, donation rates remain below the national average, especially among ethnically diverse communities where mistrust and misinformation persist.

That’s why ESOT is bringing its international congress to Excel London with a clear message – “Be a LonDonor”. The campaign calls for urgent action to boost donor registrations, tackle myths, and create a lasting culture of donation in East London and beyond.

Read a piece on the campaign from Raj Thuraisingham, Consultant Nephrologist at Royal London Hospital, on why education, trust, and action are key to saving lives.
